PGi — General Data Protection Regulation

A new European privacy law, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), comes into force on 25 May 2018.  The GDPR substantially harmonizes data protection compliance requirements across the EU, imposes accountability and security obligations on organizations which collect and process personal data, and gives individuals new and enhanced rights over their personal data. It also regulates how data is shared between data controllers and data processors.

PGi is committed to complying with data protection laws, including the GDPR.  The information below sets out how we are doing this.

How is PGi preparing for the GDPR?

With a strong foundation for security and privacy compliance, PGiis preparing for GDPR and committed to meeting our obligations for readiness under the GDPR.

  • We have conducted a thorough data processing review of the information we collect, store, maintain and control. This was designed to help determine our compliance status and prioritize any additional steps that we need to take to meet GDPR requirements.
  • We are updating our privacy policies and notices to ensure they comply with the GDPR’s rules on transparency, including where PGi relies on consent to process personal data.
  • Our employees are trained on the GDPR and how it impacts our policies and procedures, as well as their own responsibilities, to ensure we meet our GDPR obligations.

What does this mean for PGi’s customers that will be impacted by the GDPR?

Where PGi will act as a data processor when processing personal data in the course of providing services to our customers, we have issued a new Data Processing Agreement for our customers to sign. This is designed to ensure that both PGi and our customers are complying with their GDPR obligations and includes the safeguards required by Article 28 of the GDPR. A copy of this new Data Processing Agreement can be found here.

How will PGi ensure the security of personal data?

The GDPR requires that personal data is processed in a way that ensures protection against unauthorised or unlawful processing and accidental loss, destruction or damage.  PGi takes information security extremely seriously and maintains a comprehensive security program.

In line with industry best practices and standards, we have in place a range of physical, technical and organizational measures to identify, mitigate and respond to threats to the security of the information we hold on our customers, vendors and employees.
